North East

Michael King is the North East regional partner

Focus:  Criminal justice system - how the faith community can contribute to the rehabilitation of offenders

In the North East region the prison chaplaincy has been the core work.  The regional partner in the North East recognised the value of chaplaincy work in prisons and the support prisoners require whilst they are in sentence.

The regional partner holds capacity building events and workshops in prisons to engage people from various faiths and prisoners to meet together to recognise the real support that the prisoners need.

His aim is to make awareness of how chaplaincy is an invaluable support to prisoners and he is looking into sustainability of prison chaplaincy after the Faith to Engage project comes to an end.
